NOTIFICATION FROM THE MEETINGOF THE INDEPENDENT MEDIA COMMISSION

The Independent Media Commission (IMC) on 29th of March 2019 under the direction of the Chairman of the IMC, Mr. Muja FERATI, has held its fourth regular meeting for 2019 year. At the beginning of the meeting, Commission has approved an agenda of the meeting and the minutes.
Following the work of IMC onthe digitalization process, IMC has reviewed the Terms of Reference for the Working Group on Technical Issues in order to prepare a joint project for Digitalization of Terrestrial Broadcastingin the Republic of Kosovo, as one of the main objectives of the IMC for 2019 year. After the review, Commissionhas approved the Terms of Reference for the Technical Working Group.
In the course of the meeting, Commission has reviewed AMPEK's request to amend IMC Regulation 2017/07 on Audiovisual Commercial Communications for a certain period of time. Upon the review, Commission took a decision to approve the request of AMPEK, respectively change the time specified in Article 11, paragraph 2 of IMC Regulation-2017/07, which allows calculation of the 20% quota of transmission of commercial communications, starting from 17:00 to 24:00hrs. This decision enters into force upon its signature and is valid until 1st of October 2019.
Given that the deadline for public comments on the two draft regulations expires on 31stof March 2019, and that IMC has not received many comments from stakeholders hitherto, based on this situation, in order to provide additional opportunities to all stakeholders in giving their written comments on the above bylaws, the Commission decided to extend the deadline for public comments until 31st of May 2019, at 16:00hrs.
Commission also took the decision to appoint the Acting Chief Executive Officer. Based on Article 3, paragraph 2.9 of the Law No. 04 / L-44 on the Independent Media Commission and Article 30, paragraphs 1 and 4 of the Law No. 03 / L-149 on the Civil Service in the Republic of Kosovo, was appointed Acting Chief Executive Officer Mr. Luan LATIFI, currently Director of the Monitoring and Analysis Department, in order to perform this function until completion of the selection process and appointment of the Chief Executive Officer with the legal mandate.
In this meeting was presented the new webpage of IMC, in which has been worked for a long period of time, and upon approval of the Commission shall be shortly launched to the public.
