The Independent Media Commission (IMC), on May 17, 2019, under the chairmanship of the Chairman of the IMC, Mr. Muja FERATI, held its third regular meeting for 2019. The Commission approved the agenda of the meeting and the minutes from the last meeting.

During the meeting, the Commission reviewed several legal cases related to violations of IMC legislation, respectively the violation of the Code of Ethics for Audio and Audiovisual Media Service Providers. A case was considered in terms of the violation of this regulation:

Klan Kosova – Violation of the Code of Ethics, after reviewing this case the Commission concluded that Klan Kosova was found in violation of Article 7, paragraphs 1 and 8, of the Code of Ethics for Media Service Providers in the Republic of Kosovo CIMC 2016/03. Therefore, the Commission decided that Klan Kosova should be sanctioned with a Reprimand as per Article 30, paragraph 1, of the IMC Law, for violation of Article 7, paragraph 1 and 8, of the Code of Ethics CIMC-2016/03. Also, Klan Kosova is obliged to be extra careful when dealing with similar events and to ensure that such a thing will not happen again in the future.

Following the meeting, the Commission has addressed several requests in licensing cases:

Recommendation for licensing of Distribution Operator NTSH Emonet;

Recommendation for licensing of Distribution Operator Mts DOO;                      

Recommendation for issuing a radio license - regional category - Peja;

Recommendation for issuing a radio license - regional category – Prizren;

Recommendation for issuing a radio license - regional category – Pristina;

Recommendation for issuing a radio license - regional category – Istog;

Recommendation for issuing a radio license - regional category – Obiliq.

After reviewing these cases, the Commission approved the recommendations for issuing licenses to Distribution Operators as well as the recommendations for issuing radio licenses in 5 municipalities of Kosovo.
