The Independent Media Commission (IMC) and the Audiovisual Media Authority (AMA) held a working meeting on Friday, 25.09.2020, at the AMA office in Tirana.
In this meeting, the Chief Executive Officer of the IMC, Mr. Luan Latifi and the Chairman of AMA, Mr. Gentian Sala, discussed the intensification of cooperation and systematic communication of institutions, in the service of consolidating institutional performance for the regulation of the audiovisual market. The main topic of discussion was the process of switching from analog to digital broadcasting. Also new technological applications in the field of media, remain aspects where IMC and AMA have the opportunity to further intensify the exchange of information and experiences, based on the practices of regulators in EU countries.
Another issue discussed at the meeting is the role and impact of cross-border broadcasting, where broadcasts of audiovisual entities from Albania are followed in the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, and vice versa for entities from Kosovo to Albania. In order to address the problems that arise, for various complaints of citizens from both countries, the possibility of exchanging information by the two institutions for their faster and professional solution was discussed.
The exchange of virtual communication between the two institutions was another point discussed during the meeting, which was assessed as a mechanism in favor of intensifying cooperation and covering engagements of mutual interest. This will be concretized very soon with the installation of links on the respective official online sites of IMC and AMA.
