The IMC hosted a working meeting of a group of young Kosovar journalists

The Independent Media Commission (IMC) hosted today in a working meeting a group of young journalists from Kosovo, in the framework of a study visit organized by the OSCE. The group of journalists was received by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Faruk Rexhaj together with other officials of the Executive Office.

In the introductory speech, Mr. Rexhaj initially welcomed the journalists and stressed that the IMC as an institution is ready to always provide opportunities for such meetings, especially with young journalists, regarding issues related to the regulation of the media in the country. Following the meeting, the organization, functioning and role of the IMC as the sole and independent regulator for audio-visual media in the Republic of Kosovo were presented and explained in detail. The work and activities of the IMC, the monitoring of the implementation of the legislation by the licensees and the actions taken by the IMC were briefly presented.

Senior IMC officials responded to students' questions by providing clarifications on the IMC's work in monitoring and regulating Audiovisual Media Services, as a permanent work of the institution and on the basis of complaints, as well as its legal obligations. licensees, especially in compliance with the Code of Ethics, Regulation on child protection, Regulation on commercial communications. Other answers and clarifications were also provided to the questions raised on issues related to the regulation of licensees as well as other issues related to audiovisual media services in general.

This meeting was a continuation of other meetings and cooperation of the IMC with young journalists and especially with journalism students, in order to promote ethical standards of journalism, increase the quality of media reporting and protect the public interest.
