From November 9 to 11, 2022, a IMC delegation participated in the Regional Meeting of National Media Regulatory Authorities, which was held in Skopje under the organization of the media regulator of North Macedonia, the Agency for Audio Media Services and Audiovisual on the 25th anniversary of the establishment of this agency. Participants in this meeting were media regulatory authorities from: Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia.

The topics discussed at this regional meeting were: Media regulatory authorities in the new media environment – ​​how to ensure independence; Legal procedures for the appointment and dismissal of governing bodies; Operational independence (including from the Government, Public Bodies and Private Entities); Resources, competences and competences for an efficient implementation of the tasks of the regulators as well as how to improve regional cooperation.

In this two-day meeting, the aforementioned topics were elaborated, exchanging information and experiences related to the independence of regulatory authorities, the way of appointing and dismissing governing bodies, sources of funding for regulators, competences, the implementation of the obligations derived from the AVMS Directive as well as the growth of regional cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, all delegations agreed to hold regular meetings between regulators in the region, with the aim of increasing cooperation and sharing experiences in the field of regulation and media in general.
