Students of the Department of Journalism visited the IMC

The Independent Media Commission (IMC), on April 15, 2024, hosted a group of students from the Department of Journalism at the University of Pristina.
In the introductory speech, the Chairman of the IMC, Mr. Jeton Mehmeti said that he is happy about the cooperation of the IMC-Department of Journalism and expressed the willingness and institutional support in support of such initiatives that come from abroad, especially from journalism students.
Next, the group of students presented their vision within the "Media2040" project. In their presentation, the students have shown the challenges of journalists and the enabling factors that can help create a potential future according to this project, it is predicted that by 2040 journalists will be more independent, safe and protected from any negative impact and will use technology ethically, thus creating a well-informed public.
Also presented were the challenges faced by journalists as well as the factors that help overcome these challenges for the realization of the vision of independent and ethical media in the Western Balkans until 2040.
The Chairman of IMC, Mr. Mehmeti, congratulated the students for the work done, saying that IMC will be a supporter of this vision, to create an environment in which journalists work freely.
Part of the "Media2040" project are over 50 professors and students from the fields of journalism and communication from the University of Pristina, the University of Sarajevo, the University "Luigj Gurakuqi" in Shkodër, the University of Novi Sad, the University of Montenegro and the University "St. Cyril and Methodius" from Skopje.
This visit was a continuation of other meetings and cooperation of the IMC with institutions, organizations and students, in order to promote the ethical standards of journalism, increase the quality of reporting in the media, protect the public interest and media education.
