The Independent Media Commission (IMC) on June 10, 2024, under the leadership of the Chairman of the IMC, Mr. Jeton Mehmeti has held the sixth regular meeting for this year. After the approval of the agenda and the report of the Chief Executive Officer, the heads of the subcommittees also reported on their activity since the last meeting.
According to the agenda, the Commission has reviewed 3 licensing cases and 6 legal cases. After reviewing the licensing cases, the Commission has approved the license renewal requests for OSHMA TVR, Radio Victoria and the request for change of ownership and license transfer for OSHMA Dasma TV.
In dealing with legal cases, the Commission has examined 6 cases of change of ownership without prior approval of the IMC, respectively continuous violation of the Law and by-laws of the IMC. Chairman Mr. Mehmeti repeated the appeal for all licensed subjects to respect the legislation of the IMC, specifically regarding the change of ownership, which must be done only with prior approval from the IMC. After the examination, the Commission has sanctioned the following licensees, for continuous violations of the IMC legislation.
Kujtesa Net, change of ownership without prior approval of the IMC - is sanctioned with a fine in the amount of five thousand (5,000) euros;
K Sport 1, change of ownership without prior approval of the IMC - is sanctioned with a fine of one thousand (1,000) euros;
K Sport 2, change of ownership without prior approval of the IMC - is sanctioned with a fine of one thousand (1,000) euros;
K Sport 3, change of ownership without prior approval of the IMC - is sanctioned with a fine of one thousand (1,000) euros;
K Sport 4, change of ownership without prior approval of the IMC - is sanctioned with a fine of one thousand (1,000) euros;
TV KB Peja, change of ownership without prior approval of the IMC - is sanctioned with a fine of one thousand (1,000) euros.
Entities sanctioned for these legal cases, i.e. change of ownership without prior approval of the IMC, are obliged to submit the request for the change of ownership to the IMC within 30 days.
