A delegation of the IMC has paid a two-day visit to the Republic of Ireland, on a mission of exchange of experiences.
On the first day, the IMC delegation was received by the Irish regulator Coimisiún na Meán where they were informed about the work, organization, approach and challenges of regulation in the context of a rapid modern technological development. The Online Safety Framework and the measures that the Irish regulator has undertaken in regulating various video-sharing platforms were presented in more detail.
Separate sessions were dedicated to the Online Safety Code and On Demand Services which were very informative and important for the IMC in the context of contemporary regulation in general but also in the context of amendments to the Law on the Independent Media Commission.
On the second day, the IMC was hosted by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport and Media and the Film Classification Office for Ireland, where they were informed in detail about media policies and the criteria used in classifying films as part of their contribution to the protection of children and young people and respect for the values of Irish society.
In these meetings, the IMC was represented by the members of the Commission, Mr. Besnik Berisha and Ms. Luljeta Aliu, as well as the professional staff of the Executive Office, Mr. Mirand Tafarshiku, Mr. Faruk Rexhaj and Ms. Sebahate Aliu.
